Capacity Planning Specialist/Engineer

We are seeking a full-time, Capacity Planning Specialist Engineer to work out of our Haverhill, MA location. Someone who is committed to helping drive our business with a passion for the apparel and/or manufacturing industry.


• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Information Technology.
• College-level knowledge of manufacturing, engineering or systems.
• Experience in operational planning or in the apparel industry is preferred.
• Occasional travel and extra hours may be required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• ERP/MRP/Planning Systems


• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
• Ability to analyze data, production related issues, suggest corrective action and support implementation.
• Attention to detail, self-directed, hands-on, problem solving capabilities.
• Strong sense of urgency to help drive the business forward.

Duties & Responsibilities:
The Capacity Planning Specialist Engineer, under minimal supervision, supports the apparel manufacturing process by providing capacity planning, order processing, scheduling and production performance reporting.

1. Oversees the transition of product forecasts into achievable production and material plans.

2. Coordinates with engineering and production management to ensure data on product labor content, product construction constraints, and production floor processing constraints are incorporated into the planning and scheduling process.

3. Coordinates with materials purchasing to ensure material flow and dates of availability are incorporated into the planning and scheduling process.

4. Utilizes available systems to prepare plans that meet existing capacity constraints and product material flows, while optimizing performance on requested order completion dates.

5. Coordinates with product development to ensure product and pattern data are up to date and loaded into our systems prior to releasing scheduled production weeks.

6. Coordinates with CAD and Cutting Departments to provide scheduling solutions that support optimization of material usage and cutting room execution.

7. Evaluates product and order forecasts to balance against expected capacity levels of manufacturing departments, and identifies where plans fail to meet goals and suggests actions designed to bring production in line with business needs.

8. Monitors and communicates order completion dates and finished goods inventory levels to ensure order completion dates and rates are achieved.

9. Creates and distributes weekly and monthly production schedule and reports in support of weekly and seasonal planning meetings with other manufacturing support functions.

10. Works with IT department to implement and maintain systems solutions in support of capacity planning and production scheduling.

11. Maintains historical production and order data in support of performance reporting and operational financial planning.

12. Provides accurate and timely planning information used in the creation or maintenance of product style master data used in ERP and shop floor control systems.

13. Coordinates with primary customer to receive and verify their PO information, writes up and enters POs into systems as needed.
